Sections Week!!!!

THIS IS GOING TO BE AWESOME!!!!

Alright ladies, 4 more days of practice til the Section meet!! Keep your goals in the back of you mind all week and think about your race when you have a few minutes alone each day.

Schedule:

Section Prelims - Friday, Nov 8th 5:00

Section Finals - Sat, Nov 9th 3:00

We will be bussing back and forth each day, I know some of the girls plan to stay with their parents in hotels. If you plan on doing that, make sure you have the travel form signed by your parents, coach and the Cloquet AD.

Tuesday - Pool Temp Holding!

Practice at the middle school again today (10/29). See you at the pool!

Practice for the Week of Oct 28-Nov 1.

Practice will be at the Cloquet Middle School pool - the pool temp is still holding! The rest of the week we will take day by day - when/if the pool temp drops, we will be practicing most days at Denfeld Middle School. We will have a bus take us from the Middle school, leaving at 4:00 and returning after practice, arriving back at the middle school between 6:30-7.

These last 2 weeks are really important, please try to make the practices.

Wow, the middle of the season flew by, and now we only have 4 meets left!

Saturday, Oct. 26  -  Conference at Lincoln Park Middle School
Saturday, Nov. 2 - Little Giants (7th-9th Invite) at Mesabi East
Fri and Sat, Nov 8 and 9 - Sections at Sauk Rapids

We have a week left of normal practices before we start rest for Sections. Make sure you are working hard and putting all your effort towards these practices.

As some of you may know, the pool heater is done. We will practice in the pool today but we are working on other arrangements for the rest of the week, we will keep you posted as soon as we figure out where we will be.

North vs South Invite tonight at Lincoln Park Middle School, 5:00

I just wanted to send a quick message that the meet tonight is at Lincoln Park Middle School, NOT Two Harbors, there was some confusion. The meet starts at 5, hope to see you there!

Practice over MEA - Oct 17th and18th

To try to accomadate and encourage as many swimmers as possible to get to practice over MEA, we are switching the practice time to 8:00-10:00 am on Thursday and Friday. Hopefully with carpooling from some of the upper classman, we can get most of the team to practice.

I know a few of you are going out of town but we'd like to see as many of you as possible!

Parent's Night Update

The Parent's Night has been moved to the FACS room in the Middle School after the meet on Tuesday, I will post signs before the meet for those that have crockpots that might need to be plugged in. Sorry for the short notice, another group needed the cafeteria that night.

100 Fly - 1:14.7

These are very acheivable times for many of you. If you are new to swimming, the Section meet is a 2 day qualifying meet, you must meet a certain time standard to swim in the meet. The first day, everyone swims who has made the time standard. The second day of swimming is for the top 16 swimmers, 2 heats for each event. To qualify for state, you must be in the top heat (1-8 times) and reach the state time standard or finish 1st or 2nd in the race.

We have 6 regular season meets remaining, make sure you are all setting time goals for each meet, think about your splits, think about swimming a perfect race (good start, solid turns and reaching for that finish).

Parent's Night - Tuesday, Oct 8th

Our last home meet is coming up (Tuesday, Oct. 8th) and that means Parent's Night! We will host a potluck in the middle school cafeteria after the meet on Tuesday. Hope all the parent's can make it, you all deserve some recognition for this great group of girls.

We will have a sign up at the pool this week. Hope to see you there!

Team Pictures: They were supposed to be today, but since I forgot to remind you all, I thought I had better switch it to this Weds, Oct. 2. Please make sure you have your team suit on and ready to get your picture taken as soon as you rarrive. We aren't going to take up the whole practice on pictures so make sure you bring your practice suit as well!

Taconite Invite, Saturday Sept. 28th

The bus will leave at 10:15 from the middle school, please arrive 15 minutes early. As an invite, not everyone will be swimming but everyone is invited to come cheer. The meet is scheduled to start at 1:00, there are at least 4 heats of every event, so this will likely be a longer meet.

Another Win, great meet tonight!

WOW, I have to say, you all are continuing to impress me!!!! Thanks for all the hard work, this is going to continue to be an exciting year! Results will be posted tonight!

I know the results haven't been posted for the past few meets, hoping tonight to get caught up! Thanks for your patiences.

Great Success!

We have a timing system and we successfully used it last night at the first home meet! We still have a few kinks to work out, but we were able to get the times off the clock and that is awesome! A huge thank you goes out to Tom Cannon and especially his wife, Mary for helping us figure everything out.

Secondly, we have a new asstitant coach helping us out and many of you already know her. Nancy Cooper, she is a health teacher at Cloquet Middle School. I am so excited to have her on board, she jumped right in last night at the meet, I think she will be a great asset to our team.

Lastly, I wanted to remind everyone about meet conduct. Make sure you get in, warm up and cheer before the meet starts. If you aren't swimming the next event, make sure you are cheering your team on at the end of the pool, don't crowd the back of the pool waiting for your event. Cheer for you team mates and, know your goals and their's so you can cheer them on.

4 Home Meets coming up!

I'm so excited for tonight's meet against Two Harbors: first home meet of the season and first time using the new timing system! Hopefully it all goes smoothly, we had a great training session last week and I think it should run pretty smoothly.

Upcoming schedule, all weekday meets start at 5:00.

Whew, we made it through a busy week, and got a handful of girls qualified for Sections! Not bad for the first week of meets :)

First win of the season!!!!

Congrats on our first win against Ogilvie last night, great work! Results will be posted later today - remember, they are meter results, not yards to don't be alarmed if you times looks slow.

Soderlind Invite at Lincoln Park Middle School this Saturday, I will post the line up at practice. This is our first invite of the season, these meets have limited entries, so not everyone will be swimming. Feel free to come and cheer you team on though!

CEC vs Proctor/Hermantown Results

Good meet last night, we had them scared for a while there! The results are posted.

Final scores: JV - CEC: 31 P/H:55, Varsity: CEC: 39.5 P/H:52.5

We had some great swims in the 20 yards pool, including a few new Section Qualifiers! Congrats to Aleesha in the100 fly, Maija and Lexus in the 500 Free and Emma in the 100 back, so exciting, let's keep up the good work!

CEC vs Proctor/Hermantown at Proctor High School

Meet starts at 5:00, it is in a 20 yard pool so this again, will not be a normal meet, we'll have to adjust some of the events.

Bus Pick up times:

Esko - 3:40

You will be dismissed 10 minutes prior to the bus pick up time, please talk to your teachers prior to class so there is minimal disrubtion during class.

Great Spartan meet and a busy week ahead!

Great job this weekend at Spartan Relays, we had so many amazing swims from new and old swimmers. I hope you are all proud of hard hard you have worked and how well you are swimming this early in the season!

We have a busy week this week, 3 meets! Tuesday, Sept 10th we will swim Practor/Hermantown at Proctor High School at 5:00. Thursday, Sept 12th we will swim Ogilvie at Ogilvie High School at 5:00. We will finish the week at Lincoln Park Middle School on Saturday, Sept 14th for the Soderlind Invite, with swimming starting at 1:00 pm. For the weekday meets, we will pick up swimmers at your schools - be sure to check bus pickup and dismissal times at the pool. Rememeber to pack everything you need, including healthy snacks for the bus ride home, meets usually last til 6:30 or 7.

Also, as a general reminder, you need to be at practice the day before a meet in order to swim in the meet unless you have talked to the coaches prior and have an excused absense. Thanks!

Spartan Relays this Saturday!

Alright, here we go and I know you are all ready! First official meet of the season, the Spartan Relays. For those of you new to the CEC team, this is a fun meet, all relays, similar to our Jamboree. We should be able to swim everyone for this meet so make sure your schedules are clear and you are ready to swim.

The bus will pick everyone up at Cloquet Middle School at 11:00 am and return after the meet. Please arrive 15 minutes early and make sure you have all of your equipment (caps, googles, parkas if you have them, sweatshirts and pants if not - it's important to stay warm on the pool deck).

Reminder, if all of your forms are not in, you will NOT be able to swim at the meet, no exceptions.

Conference Jamboree this Thursday!!!

Reminder - Conference Jamboree tomorrow at Lincoln Park Middle School in Duluth. The bus will leave from Cloquet Middle School at 3:30, please arrive 15 minutes early. We don't have our team suits yet, so please bring a suit you can swim in.

Practice starts Monday August 12th!!!

Summer is halfway done, which means that the swim season is just around the corner!!! I hope that you all have been able to get out and enjoy the warm weather, perhaps even jumped into a pool or lake and swam a couple laps... or even miles?!?!?

Practice will start 4:00 pm on Monday, August 12th. We will get started in the pool right away and have a Parent/Athlete Meeting at 6:00, right after practice. We want to use that time to get all the information, orders and scheduling out of the way. Please make sure you and a parent are able to make this meeting. Talk to myself or Sandra Bergquist if you have any questions.
